The Planner Workspace  ·  Last updated: January 1, 2025  ·  Effective: January 1, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how The Planner Workspace ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website at theplannerworkspace.com, purchase our products, or use Event Command Center. Please read this policy carefully. By using our website or products, you agree to the practices described here.
Section 01

Overview

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect minimal personal information, use it only to deliver and improve our products, and never sell it to third parties. Event Command Center — our primary product — stores all your event planning data locally in your browser and does not transmit any event data to our servers.

Section 02

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Name and email address — when you subscribe to our email list to receive the free 47-Point Event Day Checklist or other resources
  • Purchase information — when you buy Event Command Center, our payment processor (Stan Store / Stripe) collects your payment details. We receive your name, email address, and purchase confirmation. We do not receive or store your credit card number
  • Support inquiries — any information you include when contacting us at support@theplannerworkspace.com

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data — pages visited, time spent on site, referring URLs, and general geographic region (country/state level only), collected via standard web server logs
  • Device information — browser type, operating system, and screen resolution, used to ensure our website displays correctly
  • Cookies — session cookies to maintain your browsing session. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies

Information we do NOT collect:

  • Your event planning data entered into Event Command Center (this stays on your device only — see Section 04)
  • Financial data beyond what is necessary to process your purchase
  • Social Security numbers or government-issued identification

Section 03

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver your product purchase and access code by email
  • Send you the free resources you requested (checklist, guides)
  • Send occasional emails about product updates, new features, and related products — you can unsubscribe at any time
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Improve our website and product based on usage patterns
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Section 04

Event Command Center — App Data Storage

This section is important and unique to our product.

Event Command Center stores all your event planning data exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:

  • Your event names, client names, budgets, vendor details, guest lists, timelines, and all other planning data never leave your device
  • We cannot access, view, or recover your event data
  • Your data is not transmitted to any server — not ours, not any third party's
  • If you clear your browser data or use a new device, your event data will not be available unless you have exported a backup using the built-in Export Backup feature

You are solely responsible for backing up your event data. We strongly recommend using the Export Backup function in Settings regularly and storing the backup file in a safe location such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

The access code you enter on first use is stored in localStorage to remember that your copy has been unlocked. This is the only data stored by the app that relates to your purchase.

Section 05

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — we use third-party services to operate our business (listed in Section 06). These providers access only the information needed to perform their service and are contractually prohibited from using it for other purposes
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority
  • Business transfers — if The Planner Workspace is acquired or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who will be bound by this policy
  • Protection of rights — we may share information to protect our legal rights or the safety of our users

Section 06

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other advertising tracking technology on this website.

Section 07

GDPR — Rights of EU and UK Residents

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to object — object to processing of your data for marketing purposes
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time for activities based on consent

Our legal basis for processing your data is:

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to deliver your purchase
  • Consent — for email marketing (you may withdraw at any time by clicking Unsubscribe)
  • Legitimate interests — for website analytics and security

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@theplannerworkspace.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Section 08

CCPA — Rights of California Residents

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights:

  • Right to know — request disclosure of the personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell
  • Right to delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell personal information, so this right does not apply
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

To submit a CCPA request, contact us at privacy@theplannerworkspace.com.

Section 09

Children's Privacy

Our products and services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@theplannerworkspace.com and we will delete it.

Section 10

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy:

  • Purchase records — retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
  • Email list — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Support communications — retained for 2 years
  • Website logs — retained for 90 days

Event data in Event Command Center is stored solely in your browser and is not subject to our retention policies — you control it entirely.

Section 11

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse, including:

  • HTTPS encryption on all pages of our website
  • Use of industry-standard payment processors (Stripe) who are PCI-DSS compliant
  • Limited access to personal data within our organization

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

Section 12

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify email subscribers of material changes. Continued use of our website or products after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
